Good quality, but sizing is all over the place

I’m generally a 32-34, and based on the sizing charts I ordered the 34/L. This size was too small, so I exchanged for the 36/XL. But the 36/XL is too big even with adjusting the Velcro tabs to the tightest point. Easier now to have them altered than return again.
