REBECCA FIEGL

Growing up chasing gates in the Austrian Alps, I never imagined that one day I’d be freeriding desert cliffs in northern Chile. But that’s the wild part about mountains — they change you, and they keep pulling you in different directions.

WHERE IT ALL STARTED

I clipped into skis at age two, somewhere deep in the Ötztal/Tirol of Austria. Like many kids from that region, skiing wasn’t just a sport — it was a way of life. I went on to attend a ski academy and raced professionally. Every year was a blur of early mornings, frozen boots, and chasing hundredths of a second on icy race courses.

That path led me across the ocean to the U.S., where I raced NCAA Division 1 Alpine Skiing on an athletic scholarship. I became a two-time All-American, which still feels surreal to say. But after years of living in the structure and pressure of competition, I felt the pull to explore something different — something that felt more open-ended.

Trading Skis for Two Wheels

When I stepped away from ski racing, I didn’t step away from the mountains. I just found a different way to ride them.

Mountain biking started out as a summer hobby — a way to stay fit and stoked when the snow melted. But it quickly became something more. The feeling of dropping into a fast, loamy line or picking apart a tech section gave me the same thrill as skiing — just with more dirt.

I started entering some Enduro and DH races in Alaska and also got involved in trail building — shaping the terrain instead of just riding it. From helping build new lines with the local crew to racing the Alaska series and finding freeride spots in the wild, it’s been a season of learning, progression, and plenty of loose corners.

One of the best parts has been helping grow a more welcoming MTB community for women. Whether it’s through sharing lines or just sharing the stoke, I’m all about making freeride feel as fun and inviting as it looks.

What the Tires Are Touching Now

After an incredible summer in Europe riding everything from bike parks to alpine singletrack, I’m now heading back to Chile — a place that’s captured a big piece of my heart. My partner’s deep in the freeride scene there, and we’re chasing new zones, new trails, and new ways to push ourselves on the bike.

Earlier this year, I got to ride in Antofagasta, and the experience was unreal — a raw, otherworldly desert landscape that felt like riding on another planet. The freeride terrain was steep, exposed, and absolutely stunning. That trip reminded me why I love this path — no script, no structure, just creativity and commitment.

WHEREVER THE DIRT LEADS

Right now, the goal is simple: keep chasing good lines, big smiles, and wild descents. I want to keep progressing, send it bigger, and keep shaping trails that inspire the next rider to drop in.

I don’t know exactly where the wind will carry me next — but if it’s got dirt, mountains, and good people, I’ll be there.
